THE PROJECT
LOVE IN SPACE-TIME is built upon the premise that it’s during experiences of love and loss and grief that a doorway into the 4th dimension opens up for us, and what happens if we choose to walk through it.
The story traces one woman's passage through the love and loss of two men in her life – her father and her lover.
It is a timeless and intimate work, where scenes overlap, repeat, and layer upon one another, and time and space are fluid.
RELEVANCE & RESONANCE
Although written before the Covid19 pandemic and collective trauma, its relevance and resonance are found in the need to honor our losses, and to hold our hearts tenderly, compassionately, and collectively.
In these ways it is a universal work that speaks to our current time, both personally and globally, reminding us of the healing to be found in our shared humanity.
Part elegy, part eulogy, LOVE IN SPACE-TIME is a journey, about what lies on the other side of grief: a journey of hope, humor, and transcendence.
THE VISION
LOVE IN SPACE-TIME is a movement-based performance project of poetic-realism. It features four performers with unique movement training.
The minimalist production (actors, chairs, a table, a few hand props) also includes lighting and sound design installations to support this hybrid of theater & dance, with an original music score.
“Human beings live in time. We live in time like fish in the water … what we call time is our memory, our anticipation. … time is an approximate thing, not a fundamental thing in the world. Like up and down. Up and down makes sense here on Earth, but not in space.”
- Carlo Rovelli, Physicist

“As three-dimensional beings, we perceive time only as a result of memory. We remember what was as a variable interval from what is now. If we had zero memory, we could not detect time - we would exist only for the moment. The result is our apparent perception of time as a linear line, always going forward.”

GOALS & THEMES
The Goal is to create a theatrical experience of space-time --also known as the 4th dimension or the time continuum.
"All and always all at once." -from Love in Space Time
The Themes of this project, love, loss, grief, and transcendence, are informed by memory and remembering (re-memory) and how its impact on time and space affect the manner in which we experience our personal narratives.
"Grief and sorrow are two of the privileges of love." - G. Forakis
